27th Annual General Assembly Of NCF In Kathmandu: Aspiring Team Of New Leadership Elected.
On 10 January 2020, the 27th General Assembly of National Cooperative Federation of Nepal (NCF) elected new Board of Directors (BoD) and Account Supervisory Committee under the leadership of Mr. Min Raj Kadel.
Mr. Kadel was elected as a new Chairperson unopposed from the General Assembly held on 9th – 10th Jan 2020 in Lalitpur, Nepal. After being elected, the new Chairperson, Mr. Kadel expressed his commitment as, “It was a tremendous moment with the piles of opportunities and challenges ahead to work for the meaningful growth of National Apex and Cooperative Movement of Nepal. Thus, we would definitely put our efforts in a team spirit to convert those challenges into opportunities.”
Before Mr. Kadel got elected, Mr. Keshav Prasad Badal was the Chairperson leading the NCF for the last nine years. During his leadership, NCF successfully led the cooperative movement of Nepal in terms of its institutionalization and growth at new height. The decade of his tenure will be remembered as a golden period of cooperative sector in Nepal.
On the aspiring leadership of Mr. Kadel, Ms. Om Devi Malla was also elected unopposed as a Senior Vice Chairperson who also represents in International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) as a Global Board Member. Likewise, the National Representatives elected Mr. Ramesh Prasad Pokhrel as the Vice Chairman, who was also the Chairperson of National Cooperative Bank Ltd. Similarly, the team of board member includes Mr. Ganesh Dhakal, Mr. Ram Babu Yadav, Mr. D.B. Basnet, Ms. Huma Kumari G.C, Mr. Ram Krishna Khand, Ms. Tika Budathoki, and Mr. Tara Lama Tamang from Province # 1, 2, Bagmati, Gandaki, 5, Karnali and Far-Western Province respectively.
Similarly, Mr. K.B Upreti, Mr. Narayan Devkota, and Mr. Sagar Dhakal were also elected in BoD on behalf of Central Federation/National Cooperative Bank. Accordingly, Ms. Amrita Subba and Ms. Padma Gurung elected from Woman Quota whereas Mr. Khem Bahadur Pathak, Mr. Bhim Tulachan, Mr. Tek Prasad Chaulagain, Mr. Rajendra Poudel, Mr. Laxam Yadav, Mr. Shiva Dangi and Mr. Laxmi Prasad Sharma elected from open quota.
On the other hand, Mr. Dharma Datta Devkota was re-elected as the Convener of Account Supervisory Committee unopposed. Together with Mr. Devkota, Mr. Som Bahadur Shrestha and Ms. Bal Kumari Bimala Shrestha were alao elected as the Members of Account Supervisory Committee.
Altogether, out of 265 national representatives throughout the country, 249 representatives enthusiastically took part in polling procedure. The Election Committee declared the result on the same day by awarding certificates, and the elected leaders took an oath accordingly. The cooperators exchanged their joy and honor to each other in a cooperative manner. Its believed that under the leadership of the new team, the cooperative movement of Nepal will achieve further progress, and will work together to establish cooperatives sector as one of the strong pillar of national economy and social transformation.
