Introduction
Human resource (HR) and its management is considered as the backbone of any organization. HR management is the crucial strategic approach for effective management of people and the organization because of their dynamics. Recruiting right human resources in right place will have competitive advantage in achieving the organizational goals. Cooperative sector is one of the best destination for job seekers. Currently, 280 million people around the globe are employed by cooperatives. In the context of Nepal, contribution of cooperatives in creating job is significant in equal to the public and private sector. More than 93,771 people have been directly employed in different level and sorts of around 31 thousand cooperatives besides millions of self-employed entrepreneurs in the sector. Organizations have been facing the challenges in getting the expected result due to not positioning the right people in right place. So, recruiting the proper manpower in proper position is crucial for not only successful human resource management but also its retention.
In the changed context, exploring wider opportunities for capable and potential human resource is a responsibility of every organization. Since the cooperative sector in Nepal has not directly exploring job institutionally, Coop Job fair is one of the opportunity for both cooperative employer and job seeker to share on the possibilities of job placement. This could be beneficial for both parties. Reinsuring the constitutional arrangement of public-private and Cooperative Partnership, the public and private sector entities also could be the part of this job fair. Therefore, it is a historic platform for job seeker and job providers to recruit professional human resources. Many organizations save their time and efforts on recruiting by participating in the job fair. Interviews can even be organized at a job fair so that such time can be saved by both employees and employers. Keeping this fact in view, National Cooperative Federation of Nepal is conducting the Ist Coop Job Fair-2024 with the theme "Youth Engagement for Decent Cooperative Business" to provide the platform to the multiple recruiters for sharing their human resources package with potential employees in one-stop.
Rationale of the Fair
Unemployment remains a pressing issue in Nepal which has compelled many youths to migrate from rural areas to urban centers or cross-border employment. Due to the limited opportunities and less information about job platforms, many youths are hovering here and there for the placement. But, getting decent job within the country has its own significance for the individual, family, community and for the whole nation. As the constitution of the Nepal has also acknowledged about the contribution and potentialities of cooperatives sector and regards it as a major pillar of National economy, it carries vast areas of job opportunities, entrepreneurship development, self-employment, capacity building etc.
The job fair provides job seekers with unique advantages to grab the opportunity. Many employees are further seeking a decent job than ever. One of the pertinent reason behind such scenario is not to have sufficient accessible information about the job. In such context, the cooperative job fair provides an opportunity to exchange information, face-to-face interactions among employer, job seeker as well as products and service providers an information about the institutions, networking, and relationships, gaining diligence insights and discovering hidden opportunities. The fair offers chance to the potential employers, producers and service providers to make a personal impression, showcase communication skills, cooperatives culture and directly inquire about the job specification. In nutshell, the Cooperative Job Fair mutually expose all- job seekers, employers with deep insights on their products and services contributing to the SDGs- Decent work and Economic Growth.
Objective
The general objective of the Cooperative Job Fair is to provide a platform for the job seekers and potential employers by exploring appropriate jobs, career counselling, and entrepreneurship knowledge as well as holistic aspect of cooperative business. The specific objectives are listed as below.
- To maximize the access of job seekers and cooperative job provider.
- To attract competent youth human resource in cooperative sector.
- To aware youth on the distinct identities of cooperatives its potentiality for career advancement opportunities.
- To foster cooperative business and entrepreneurship through networking.
Structure & Methodologies
The job fair is an ideal platform to both job seekers and job providers through interaction and knowledge sharing with each other. It is a recruiting event, where recruiters find prospective employees and job seekers learn about potential employers, the market dynamic, and search for opportunities, application process, and organizations. At job fairs, employers can expect to encounter active job seekers who want to learn about job openings especially in the cooperative sector. The program allow cooperatives and companies to set up attractive booths while job seeker interact and move between employers. To attend job fairs, recruiters should identify targeted events and connect with NCF for more details on participation. The methodology for the fair will be as follows:

Partnership Opportunities and Entry Fee
This fair is common platform for all. There is an opportunity to explore the job and enroll them. Apart the business information of each organization is also exposed during the fair. This is a good opportunity for business networking and recruiting right manpower.
The entry fee is free for visitors. However, the program is subjected to leverage financial support from Title sponsor, co-organizer and supporter. Three slots are provisioned: NPR. 5,00,000 for co-organizer, NPR.2,00,000 for partners and NPR 1,00,000 for supporters.
Stall Booking
There will be around 40 stalls to showcase the activities of participating organization and their products/ services including interacting space with job seekers/participants. Participating cooperatives, government and non-government agencies, firms and companies which contribute as co-organizer, partner and supporters for the program will be given a stall in free of cost. Those cooperatives/ organization who participate only in stall should pay NPR. 25,000.00 for three days. Exhibition Booking Form
