Curriculum Technical Team And Cooperative Leader From Nepal Visited Indian Cooperatives And Universities
In the coordination of National Cooperative Federation of Nepal (NCF), Four-member team: Ms. Om Devi Malla, Vice Chair of NCF and ICA Global Board Member, Professor Dilli Raj Sharma, Dean of Faculty of Management, Trubhuvan University, Mr. Deepak Khadka, Undersecretary, Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Allieviation and Mr.Khilanath Dhamala, Curriculum Officer of Curriculum Development Center of Nepal visited National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI), International Cooperative Alliance, Asia and Pacific (ICA-AP) and Mysore University of Bengaluru and some other government entities from 20-24 May 2019. The objective of the visit was to exchange and learn ideas on the development of cooperative curriculum, its concept, methodology, required resources to develop the cooperative curriculum in the context of Nepal.
For the first day the team visited ICA-AP to discuss on the possible way out and to collect regional perception to develop cooperative curriculum in the context of Nepal. The interactive session was focused on the different dynamics of cooperative and curriculum.
The second day meeting was conducted with National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI). During the meeting couple of papers were presented by the team of NCUI. One on the general scenario of Indian Cooperative Movement and another on the overall education system of India. A meeting was also focused on bilateral cooperation on developing cooperative curriculum in the context of Nepal. The meeting was fruitful in terms of coordination and collaboration to incorporate cooperative curriculum in schools and universities of Nepal.
The third day meeting was conducted with Department of Economics and Cooperative Management in Mysore University, a very renowned and old university established before 102 years. Couple of papers were presented from the university side focusing on cooperative movement of India and the curriculum structure of cooperative in academic degree like master in cooperative management and other undergraduate programs. The paper also illustrates the cooperative curriculum in school education. on the same day the second meeting was held with the Department Head and Senior Professor Yashavantha Dongre highlighted on on teaching learning process of cooperative courses. Another meeting was held with the vice Chancellor Professor G. Hemantha Kumar and registrar Dr Gandhi in Mysore University. The meeting was facilitated by Prof Dongre. From Nepal side the purpose of study visit was highlighted by Vice Chair Om Devi Malla. Similarly, Dean prof Dilli Raj Sharma from Nepal highlighted the programs run by faculty of management TU as well as the possibilities of collaborations between two universities.
The another meeting was conducted on Karnataka State Rural Development and Panchayat Raj University, Gadag. The meeting was also attended by Vice Chanceller prof B. Thimme Godwa and registrar Prof. Dr. Suresh V. Nadagoudar focusing on the courses of Master in Commerce in cooperative management and one-year diploma course in Cooperative management. Similarly, the meeting was held in Karnataka Souhardha Federal Cooperative and discussions was focused on the diploma program in Cooperative management. The meeting was briefed by G. Patil, Managing Director and Dr S A Siddhanti explaining about their performance as well as the diploma programs which is being successfully running.
The visit is believed to be fruitful collect the technical ideas, opportunities and to overcome the challenges of cooperative curriculum development in Nepal.
